Road Trip! And Other Vacation Memories
We shared memories about trips to Peru, Oklahoma, and New York City. Of course, there were stories about going to the beach, long car rides (watch out for dangerous curves!) and boat rides on stormy waters. Several tellers brought memorabilia to share including a treasured Ginny doll, a lighthouse and a lovely handmade wall hanging depicting scenes from Peru. The day also included a folktale about a trickster (Nasreddin) and a father's ingenuity when his two-year-old kept losing their favorite toy — a hippopotamus.

We spent a delightful afternoon sharing personal stories about our fathers and grandfathers, folktales about wise elders and an 1843 letter written by a Mary Hempstead Boles, a wise and strong women who championed the abolishment of slavery in Connecticut.

Cold Nights, Warm Tales
Winter storm warnings and extreme cold didn't keep this intrepid group of tellers from sharing.
Stories included a wintery folktale, memories of driving in winter, and family stories about moms, grandmothers and daughters. All are looking forward to next month's gathering.
