What is a story jam?

An informal gathering where people connect through storytelling.

Who will I meet?

Adults who love telling & listening to stories.

What kinds of stories will I hear?

Personal stories, family stories, historical narratives, cultural tales, indigenous tales, fables, fairy tales, folktales, wisdom tales, humorous tales, tall tales, myths, legends, poetry, spoken word, songs and ballads.

Is there a theme?

Yes. Themes are meant to get you thinking about stories you know and might want to share. They are only suggestions, so any story you want to tell is welcome.

How long should my story be and how are tellers chosen?

10 minutes or less. The order of tellers is determined by pulling names from a hat. If you want to tell a story, put your name in the hat when you arrive.

Do I need to register to attend?

Registration is requested but not required. It's helpful to know how many folks to expect, but walk-ins are welcome. If you wish to register, please email us at ctstorytelling234@gmail.com or call(860) 934-8165.

Where is the Story Jam held? What time does it start?

290 State St. New London CT (The Thames Club).
1:30-3:30ish
Parking readily available on the street.

How much does it cost?

Your $10 donation is greatly appreciated and helps support the Storytelling Center with it's mission -- "Connecting lives one story at a time"
